The RUM is revolutionizing rail unloading. The self contained unit travels highways and rails under its own power, mounts easily onto existing rails and goes to work unloading rail from a conventional welded rail train. Using a rail crane and powered guide roller boxes, the RUM can position approximately 6-8 rails an hour and eliminates the need for extensive manpower reducing the risk of injury. Because the RUM travels by highway to the next rail train and because it is operated and maintained by Herzog personnel, the RUM speeds any expansion, upgrade or rehabilitation track project.
